What is a distance mounting system?

The assembly of heavy loads such as French balconies, canopies, or air conditioning units on an ETICS (External Thermal Insulation Composite System) insulated façade is a challenge because the insulation alone does not provide enough support for heavy load installation.

Distance mounting, spacer mounting or stand-off installation means that the fastening solution bridges a distance that does not offer enough support for the installation (in this case the thermal insulation) - by means of an anchor rod. It anchors itself securely in the underlying wall, offering reliable support for fixing on the exterior façade.

Suitable for all common building materials:
such as concrete, aerated concrete, masonry (solid and perforated brick)

Thermal separation module:
The thermal separation module prevents heat bridges and features a special thread. This specially developed thread, screws itself into the insulation material - you save time as no additional tools are required.

Honoured with the German Design Award 2023 for excellent product design:

No thermal bridges:
Effective thermal separation prevents heat bridges and protects against mould and heat loss

High application flexibility:

One set for all insulation types and thicknesses from 60-300 mm in concrete and 60-250 mm in perforated bricks (ResiTHERM® 16), and from 60-220 mm in concrete and 60-160 mm in perforated bricks (ResiTHERM® 12).

Driving rain and windproof fastening:
Pre-assembled and weather resistant EPDM sealing ensures clean sealing against driving rain up to wind force 11 (violent storm), tested according to DIN EN 1027, no subsequent work necessary such as sealing the fastening point

High-quality materials:
No risk of corrosion due to high-quality materials such as stainless steel A4 and the glass-fibre reinforced separation module

Readjustable anchor rods:
The screw-in depth of the M12 as well as the M16 threaded rod can be amended

This is how quick and easy the installation of the ResiTHERM® 16 & 12 distance mounting system works:

Application image of the ResiTHERM® which has been installed with a wall bracket

1. Drill a hole - Drill hole depth varies depending on insulation thickness and substrate

2. Cut the ResiTHERM® 16 or ResiTHERM® 12 to length

3. Fill the drill hole with injection mortar (For perforated brick: use a sieve sleeve)

4. Screw in the ResiTHERM® 16 or 12 until the seal is pressed against the plaster, the thermal separation module drills itself into the insulation

5. DONE!
Let the injection mortar cure and mount the fixture

Better to be safe than sorry - ResiTHERM® 16 & 12

If heavy loads such as canopies, awnings, French balconies, sun sails or air-conditioning units are to be fixed to the external insulation, fixing in the insulation material alone is not sufficient.

The challenge is to bridge the insulation material without causing a thermal bridge and to create a secure anchorage in the wall, e.g. in concrete or perforated brick. ResiTHERM® 16 and ResiTHERM® 12 meet and exceed both of these requirements, as the innovative products are also quick and easy to install and, unlike conventional products, have an ETA (European Technical Assessment).

Typical applications of ResiTHERM® 16

As the applications mentioned are safety-relevant applications, the failure of which can pose a danger to people, ResiTHERM® 16 & 12 have undergone comprehensive testing according to the current state of the art. They are the only products of their kind on the market that have an ETA. Fastening technology products with an ETA are not only recognised in all member states of the EU, but also beyond, often worldwide. Find out why you should use ETA approved products.

In our practical insulation fixings guide, you can find out which products we recommend for other applications such as lamps, letterboxes, cornice covers, wall connection profiles on carports, rainwater downpipes and much more. We explain which product is best suited depending on the insulation and load values:

Avoid thermal bridges and save heating costs?

When heat is lost from the building envelope at specific points, these are known as thermal bridges, cold bridges or heat bridges. These heat losses can occur when, among other things, awnings, letterboxes, house numbers, etc. are retrofitted to the exterior insulation as they interrupt the insulation at the attachment point and allow cold to penetrate.

Cold bridges can have a negative impact on your wallet, your health and even the building substance. Find out why you should avoid thermal bridges - or ensure thermal separation - and how the right fastening solutions can help you save on heating costs and keep the energy efficiency of your building.
