Starting in Germany in 1917, DIN has created a wide range of standards that includes around 34,000 standard documents.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Here we go through who DIN are and what are the standards.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:heading -->\n<h2>What does DIN mean?<\/h2>\n<!-- \/wp:heading --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>DIN refers to the German Institute of Standardization (\u201cDeutsches Institut f\u00fcr Normung\u201d) which are a non-profit organisation founded in 1917 in Berlin, to develop norms and standards for many products including metric fasteners.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Germany has always excelled in the engineering field and the work done by DIN has improved their ability to work in the highly competitive and technical fields. Their importance has helped them gain a solid worldwide reputation, allowing them to join the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The primary aim of DIN is to develop consensus-based standards that meet market requirements \u2013 all members often take an active role in the decision-making process.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:heading -->\n<h2>What is a DIN standard?<\/h2>\n<!-- \/wp:heading --><!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The \u201cstandard\u201d has been defined as a \u201cdocument, established by consensus and approved by a recognized body that provides, for common and repeated use, rules, guidelines or characteristics for activities or their results, aimed at the achievement of the optimum degree of order in a given context\u201d.
